Settling In

Before your child starts Playgroup or Nursery please talk to him or her positively about the experience.  Explain particularly about toileting procedures and break-time as these can be the unsettling times when new routines are introduced.

When your child starts Playgroup or Nursery he/she will be allocated a Key Worker who will be especially aware of your child’s needs.  The Key Worker will update you on your child’s progress throughout the year.  The Key Worker is also available to speak to, confidentially, should you have any worries or concerns about your child’s progress or development.  Talk to your child about what he or she does in Playgroup or Nursery.

With previous experience we have found some children settle quickly, some children can be upset for the first few days and then settle, and others may settle well for the first few days and then become anxious.  You are welcome to telephone at any time during the first few days if you are concerned in any way about your child.

You may prefer to gradually introduce your child to Playgroup ie by attending for one hour on the first week, two hours on the second week and three hours on the third week.  This can be easily arranged – just speak with either Diane or Lauren.

In order for your child to feel secure and confident we aim for partnership between parents and Playgroup and Nursery.  You will receive monthly news bulletins and more details of each month’s programming will be available on the parents’ notice board and our website.  We are interested to hear of any ideas or suggestions from parents about our setting.

“Fab interaction between kids, nursery staff and parents.  No concerns about leaving my child in times when he was a little under the weather as nursery staff constantly liaise with us.”  A Parent

“My son was hard to settle in playgroup but I was always reassured by all staff he settled quickly and I would be contacted if he didn’t.  When he started nursery he was so confident and has progressed from September.  All staff are friendly, helpful and very approachable.”  A Parent

My two children have really enjoyed Playgroup and Nursery.  The staff are very caring and support the parents through hard times.  I would recommend this Nursery.”  A Parent

“I could not recommend any Nursery more, the staff are so much more than that, they are friends, family, who care for all the kids, parents and grandparents.  Thank you for a wonderful six years.”  A Parent

“The staff are so friendly and helpful and nothing is too much trouble.  Thank you for all your hard work and the great influence you have all been in his life.”  A Parent
