Learning

We believe children learn through play, through enjoyment of what they are doing and through interaction with caring, supportive adults.  At Movilla Playgroup and Nursery we provide a wide range of stimulating appropriate activities and experiences, both inside and out, which are based on the concept of learning through play.  Well planned and well-resourced play activities allow for progression in a child’s thinking and understanding and can provide the context in which our principles become the reality for our children.

Children’s care, development and learning in our setting is based on the Curricular Guidance for Pre-School Education from the Department of Education Northern Ireland.  In line with this guidance we support children’s learning through the six areas of the curriculum –

• Personal, Social and Emotional Development
• Physical Development
• The Arts
• Language Development
• Early Mathematical Experiences
• The World Around Us

Keyworkers will regularly observe their key children to help monitor their development and ensure the activities we provide meet their individual needs and help them to progress.  This information is recorded and will be shared with parents at regular progress meetings throughout the year.
